Approximately 30 teens and adults came together this week to learn about the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets®. These assets, broken into 8 asset categories, outline positive experiences and qualities that help young people develop and thrive. Participants were able to explore the powerful role of individual asset builders in the lives of youth as well as examine their own definitions and values around asset building.
The workshop was rounded out by a discussion of the community’s responsibility in ensuring spaces and relationships where assets can take root- and a member of the Monroe County Youth Council shared info about a new program, Page by Page, that aims to nurture assets in teens and younger students.
This workshop was sponsored by Youth Services Bureau of Monroe County and Building a Thriving Compassionate Community (BTCC).
