20 community members joined Building a Thriving Compassionate Community for a training on Primary Prevention in April! Two BTCC core members who work for the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence, and are experts in primary prevention strategies, guided the group through discussion and an activity.
Primary prevention strategies are those to get in front of social problems by promoting safe and equitable community conditions to ensure all community members have the opportunity to live at their fullest potential. Primary prevention strategies have been used to address social problems including child maltreatment, sexual violence, youth violence, and intimate partner violence.
This training provided an overview of the “what” and “how” of primary prevention and examples of how agencies across Indiana are using these strategies to modify risk and protective factors related to social problems in their communities.
When: April 29 2016, 3:30-5:30pm
